Design playbook / Microsoft Agent 365 + Copilot Studio
From a Microsoft agent inventory to an approved state.
An architectural preview of how native Microsoft agent configuration and identity context could be normalized into a Steerlane assurance lifecycle.
Source → state → assurance → decision
A specific, explainable connection path.
This is a proposed integration contract illustrated with authored examples. Every state transition would require supported source access, provenance and product release qualification.
- 01
Discover source
Read an authorized agent/environment scope and record the native source identity.
- 02
Normalize configuration
Map available actions, knowledge sources, models and permissions to recognized governance components.
- 03
Compare approval
Relate current declared state to the separately approved configuration and identify meaningful changes.
- 04
Assess assurance
Open affected controls or evaluations and preserve unknown fields for reviewer attention.
Source inputs and provenance
Required for a bounded connector contract—not a promise that every native API exposes them.
- Agent identity and environment where exposed
- Actions, knowledge and authorized configuration
- Version, refresh time and source provenance
Questions the control layer must answer
Consequences of change, measured against the governing baseline and evidence.
- Has a newly enabled action expanded authority?
- Does the approved baseline still describe the effective configuration?
- Which unsupported native fields remain unknown?
Boundaries and unknowns
No source coverage, no certainty.
Steerlane does not treat unavailable fields as verified unchanged. Unsupported authority, missing telemetry and stale sources remain explicitly unresolved.
- Field availability depends on Microsoft API surfaces, entitlement and tenant permissions.
- This design does not imply Microsoft partnership, Agent 365 certification or a live connector.
- No active Microsoft tenant or production agent is connected by this website.
Evaluation focus: native field coverage, tenant scope, identity and version provenance.
Evaluate the actual scope before committing to a pilot.
Tell us your platform, tenant boundaries, evidence sources and review ownership. Pilot commitments remain limited to demonstrated capabilities.
