Design playbook / ServiceNow review coordination
Use existing enterprise review workflows without surrendering assurance authority.
A sample handoff design between Steerlane's required human review and a ServiceNow task; approval authority stays separate from ticket status.
Source → state → assurance → decision
A specific, explainable connection path.
This is a proposed integration contract illustrated with authored examples. Every state transition would require supported source access, provenance and product release qualification.
- 01
Determine review need
A change/evidence condition requires an explicit human decision under the current policy.
- 02
Create external task
Issue a scoped review request with a reference to the reason, affected system and permitted context.
- 03
Track workflow progress
Correlate external task IDs and synchronization freshness without treating ticket closure as automatic approval.
- 04
Record governed decision
An authorized Steerlane decision retains reviewer identity, evidence, baseline version and audit history.
Source inputs and provenance
Required for a bounded connector contract—not a promise that every native API exposes them.
- Required review context and permitted identifiers
- External task ID, status and last sync
- Authorized review outcome and evidence link
Questions the control layer must answer
Consequences of change, measured against the governing baseline and evidence.
- What triggered this review?
- Is the external task state fresh and trusted?
- Has an authorized decision actually been recorded?
Boundaries and unknowns
No source coverage, no certainty.
Steerlane does not treat unavailable fields as verified unchanged. Unsupported authority, missing telemetry and stale sources remain explicitly unresolved.
- ServiceNow and Steerlane are separate systems of record for their distinct responsibilities.
- External task completion cannot silently approve an AI change.
- The website has no active ServiceNow connection or ticket.
Evaluation focus: task state, sync freshness, authorized reviewer and decision identity.
Evaluate the actual scope before committing to a pilot.
Tell us your platform, tenant boundaries, evidence sources and review ownership. Pilot commitments remain limited to demonstrated capabilities.
